I had a really fun weekend and a decent training weekend! I took it easy Thursday and Friday because I was feeling a bit under the weather, so I was rarin’ to go for my weekend workouts!
Back to Saturday morning long runs! Got in 13 miles with 2 of my running club friends. It was really nice to have a social long run, and the legs felt good the entire run! I can really appreciate running healthy now. It was perfect weather too, much cooler than it has been in this abnormally warm March. I followed up the run with a good session with my foam roller and some ab work.
Saturday afternoon, I went to see the Hunger Games! It was awesome. The books were so good, and the movie really lived up to the high expectations. After the movie, we went to Rock Bottom Brewery for beers and dinner, and then out on Boylston Street. It was a really fun night!
Getting up Sunday was a bit difficult because of the late night, but I managed to hit up the advanced spin class at the gym. It’s a 90 minute spin class that is meant to be geared towards cyclists, so it is more like riding on a real road than some other fitness-based spin classes I’ve been to at other gyms. I had been going pretty regularly during the winter to build a cycling base. Today we did about 50 minutes of drills (speed & hill work), then 30 minutes of time trials – 10 of endurance, 10 of hills, and 10 race pace. It was a great class and I’m glad I got to it this morning! (Even though I was bummed I didn’t get outside due to the colder weather and potential for rain.)
I spent the afternoon relaxing at my parents house and enjoyed a delicious roast chicken dinner with the family (and ice cream of course!). Now, it’s time to get some sleep to rest up for a busy week of work, school, and training! I’m looking forward to a yoga class tomorrow morning to stretch out the legs and work on some core strength.
